Acorns Pre-school based in Biggin Hill has been working on a summer topic around plants, flowers and growing. Staff have been providing opportunities for the children to plant their own seeds and watch them grow. The children have been watering and nurturing the seeds, which has provided plenty of opportunities for extended conversations during sharing time.claire on 09-06-2015 01:44:13 MST
This term Acorns Pre-school have asked for all of the children to bring in their Favourite book in from home. Providing experiences for all of the children to become excited about books and have the chance to listen to well know children’s stories. Stories such as The Gruffalo, Room on a Broom, Going on a bear hunt and Owl babies will be focused on throughout this term.
Research has found that reading with a child from such a young age help’s develop the child’s own reading as well as other cognitive skills. These skills will lay a very good foundation to the child’s future learning and development – recommendations of reading with your child every day for 5 minutes will benefit them in their schooling years.
Happy reading to everyone at Acorns Pre – school!

At the end of last year, Purley After School Club members ended their term having a disco. All of the young people involved danced to some of their favourite tracks and had a dance competition with prizes, followed by party food. All of the young people thoroughly enjoyed the evening!claire on 08-01-2015 04:45:08 MST
